Amazon Is Shutting Down Its Android Appstore—Here’s What You Need to Know!

Amazon just made a big decision—it’s shutting down its Appstore for Android devices on August 20! If you were using Amazon’s store instead of Google Play, it’s time to switch.
Developers can still update apps, but new submissions are already blocked, and in-app purchases are done for good. The Amazon Coins program will also disappear, but don’t worry—Amazon promises refunds for any leftover coins.
So why is this happening? Amazon says most people use its Appstore on Fire TVs and Fire Tablets, not regular Android devices. That’s where they’re focusing now.
Launched in 2011, the Amazon Appstore tried to compete with Google Play and Apple’s App Store but never gained enough traction. It even fought a legal battle with Apple over the name!
Amazon already shut down its Appstore in China last year, and Windows users lose access on March 5. If you’re an Android user, you’ll need to say goodbye and move back to Google Play!
